On September 16, CHN Energy Xinjiang Branch Jilintai Company carried out its autumn fish restocking program, releasing 120,000 fry of the endangered scaly osman (Diptychus maculatus) into the Salikete Reservoir. To date, the company has continuously carried out fish release activities for 16 years, with a cumulative total of 2.11 million fry released, making a positive contribution to the stability and integrity of the river basin ecosystem.
All the fry released this time were first-generation offspring bred from wild broodstock at the company’s fish breeding station and belong to scaly osman (Diptychus maculatus), a nationally protected Class II species. Prior to release, special scientific marking was conducted: 3,000 fry larger than 15 centimeters were implanted with electronic chips, 20,000 fry larger than 6 centimeters were marked with fluorescent colloids, and 40,000 fry larger than 4 centimeters were marked with alizarin red. These measures provide a scientific basis for subsequent monitoring of restocking effectiveness, fish population changes, and ecological assessments. The event received strong attention and support from local government departments. Representatives from the Ili Prefecture Environmental Protection Bureau and Agriculture Bureau participated on-site, while the Notary Office of Nilka County supervised and verified the species, quantity and size of the released fry, ensuring that the entire process was scientific, standardized and transparent.
The company has long been committed to ecological restoration in the basin, continuously improving the operation and management of its fish breeding and release station, and enhancing the breeding capacity and survival rate of rare fish species. These efforts have provided strong support for maintaining aquatic biodiversity in the Ili-Kax River Basin, promoting regional sustainable development, and contributing to the building of a beautiful Xinjiang.
